21st September 2026 Hiking - Walking: Around Felixstowe Wind Direction: Wind Stength: light airs Surf / Sea State: smooth Air Temperature: 18 Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny and warm Max Speed: Distance Covered: 4.50 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Monday 21st September - walks ***** – Sunrise prom and The Dip to the Deben – sunny and warm with light winds. Walk 1 – Sunrise to The Manor. It looked promising for a decent sunrise so I headed down to the seafront at the end of our road and there was a lovely bank of red sky at the shame time as Mag arrived to join up with me at 6.20. For a change we walked the other way to the end of the prom at The Manor end. It was really lovely apart from the really bad smell near the Manor Martello, I think it’s the sewage works? We stood by the railings at the end of the prom where I windsurf and watch the sun appear at 6.45, there was also some really lovely clouds which made for some cool photos including a nice one taken by the pier which Aisling used on this evenings About Anglia! It was the perfect way to start the day before returning to bed to sort out my pics! Mag cut the old mastic out of the shower for me to mastic later before we headed to Lidl for a quick shop before returning home for breakfast in the garden. I then started my exercises inn the sunny warm garden and promptly dozed off! Walk 2 – The Dip to the Deben for lunch. I then packed a late, quickly masticed the shower before driving down to the windsurfers car park at The Dip in wall to wall sunshine with a light breeze, just lovely! We walked along the prom, past the golf course to our picnic spot by the mouth of the River Deben where the tide was very low and we were entertained by a group of Herring gulls fishing:) The were a few out on the water including fishing boats, a man rowing, a small yacht and a paddle boarder as we enjoyed a yummy chicken sandwich before Mag tucked into her free Lidl Birthday chocolate donut! So a really top day in amazing weather, great fun was had by all! Photo Album here |
